Fourthies Learn to Raise the Colors

What a great way to begin the year as leaders of the lower school--the proper way to raise and take down the flag.  It's all in a day's work for our Fourthies, and there is a process which each girl learns.  This is not to say that it goes perfectly every day!

Well, do you feel as if your girls have been in school a month?  This is always the most incredible week to me.  We go from just meeting each other on Monday to having pretty, organized girls ready to go on Friday. On that note, every assignment pad is organized to the hilt.  Every notebook is filled with paper and ready for lots of writing and math, and last but not least, the girls are working on their first Buncee assignment, which is related to their summer reading.  “What is Buncee?” you ask.  Well, it is a very cool, interactive website that we all are learning to use. Every year we introduce new sites, and it is a learning curve for all of us.  Don’t believe otherwise!  It’s fun, and it is the way of the world. The girls loved it!

At this very moment, the girls are working away on a Google Classroom assignment also related to the book Because of Winn Dixie. I feel very proud of myself that I was able to teach it for the very first time with limited password problems, etc.  I think it is going to be a great way to give assignments. We shall see!

I have to admit  that I really do have the cutest class. They are adorable, ready to learn, and getting in the swing of all things Fourthie!  I am feeling a very good vibe about their love of history, which is a passion of mine also.

Parents’ Night is  next Thursday, September 8.  When I receive the details, I will pass them on to you. My guess is that it starts at 6PM.

Meanwhile, I would like to thank you for buying all of your girls’ school supplies.  It’s expensive, I know. You are a great, supportive group, and I know that we are going to have a fabulous year filled with wonderful learning and many surprises!

Have a terrific holiday weekend!

Fourthies Rush to M06

Really?  Am I really going to meet my new class of Fourthies?  You think you are excited....well, I can't wait until Monday, but that is only the beginning!  Once we have ORGANIZED all of our stuff, in between surprise breaks, then we can finally start our year.  Of  course, your teachers have been meeting and plotting, I mean planning, some great activities for you....such as FIELD TRIPS, and cool, new websites to use, and fun projects.  It's going to be a great year!  I will probably see many of you on Monday between 1 and 2 when you can drop by M06, your new "pad" for a year.  By the way, that's a Decade word, but you'll learn more about that later.

Don't forget!  The first real day of school is Tuesday beginning at 8 AM and ending at 3:25 PM.
Bring your assignment pads and supplies, and we'll get going!  See you on Monday!
